About
A Practical Guide to Winnipeg
Discover Winnipeg is an editorial travel guide to Manitoba's prairie river capital. We write the version of the city we wish someone had handed us on a first visit: opinionated, specific, and honest about which weeks of February are the ones to book.
What we cover
The Forks. The Canadian Museum for Human Rights. The Exchange District. Saint-Boniface and Festival du Voyageur. Assiniboine Park, The Leaf and the polar bears at Journey to Churchill. River trails. Neighbourhoods. Indigenous and Métis history. Food worth crossing town for. Hotels worth booking direct. And the kind of practical detail — parking, transit, winter clothing — that most travel sites quietly skip.
Who writes it
The site is run by a small editorial team of Winnipeg-based writers and frequent visitors. Every guide is based on firsthand visits, not press releases. When we recommend a restaurant or a hotel, we have eaten or slept there. When we say to skip something, that is also firsthand.
How we make money
Discover Winnipeg participates in affiliate programs with Viator, Booking.com, Expedia and others. If you book through a link on the site, we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. We do not accept payment for placement, and our recommendations are not influenced by it.
